ONE MILLION WAYS TO DIE IN THE WEST

by Seth MacFarlane

William Morris Endeavor Entertainment LLC

ONE MILLION WAYS TO DIE IN THE WEST
ONE MILLION WAYS TO DIE IN THE WEST

A marriage of the classic western comedy BLAZING SADDLES and MacFarlane’s own signature FAMILY GUY humor, this is an utterly hilarious (sometimes gratifyingly disgusting and vulgar) Western that keeps you laughing at every turn of the page.

For fans of other comedic and satirical writers such as David Sedaris, Gary Shteyngart, Christopher Moore, David Rakoff, and Chuck Palahniuk.

A MILLION WAYS TO DIE will also be a movie of the same name (which Seth directed and co-wrote). It will star Charlize Theron, Liam Neeson, Amanda Seyfried, Sarah Silverman, Giovanni Ribisi and Neil Patrick Harris. Universal Pictures, who were responsible for the blockbuster TED – the world’s highest grossing R-rated movie of all time – will be releasing A MILLION WAYS TO DIE IN THE WEST in May 2014. You can read more about this movie here.

Albert Stark is a coward of the West. A man who hates the dangers of the Frontier. But, of course, that doesn’t mean he can avoid them. He lives in the little, dusty desert town of Old Stump and works as a lowly sheep farmer – and not a particularly good one at that. But there are some positives in his life that make his existence a little more bearable. His beautiful girlfriend, Louise, has all her teeth, and his best friend, Edward, is loyal - if a little stupid. Life could be worse. But when he refuses to fight local brute, Charlie Blanche, in a typical Western showdown (instead offering to sell his sheep and pay him off), and Louise unceremoniously dumps him for his cowardice, his life begins to change. When a beautiful and mysterious woman rides into town, quickly followed by the most notorious gunslinger in the West, Albert is forced to find courage and take action.

THE HANGING JUDGE

by Michael Ponsor

THE HANGING JUDGE
THE HANGING JUDGE

The novel is the first fictional portrayal of a contemporary death penalty trial seen from the viewpoint of the judge, and indeed is written by a U.S. Federal Judge. Michael Ponsor presided over the first capital trial in Massachusetts in over fifty years (not the fictional case here), and this and his other judicial experiences give him a unique ability to tell this story with authenticity.

Michael A. Ponsor takes readers into the courtroom and beyond, presenting with great sensitivity the points of view of the defendant and his wife; the victims’ families; law enforcement officers; witnesses; and the judge who, while still coming to terms with the death of his wife, begins a relationship with a woman he is not sure he can trust.

“Novels have shown us what it’s like to be a juror, an attorney, even the defendant, but this is the first I’ve read that puts us upon the bench – a knowing, nuanced portrait of a judge and the often imperfect system he watches over.”  Joseph Kanon

“Michael Ponsor has written that rare gem: a crackling court procedural with authentic characters and beautiful prose. I adored this book.” Anita Shreve
