THE THEORY OF EVERYTHING

Sophie Sophia is obsessed with music from the late eighties.

She also plays guitar with The Cure, sees baby black bears falling from the sky and dances with the Ramones in the cafeteria. She sees things no one else sees. Does things you can hardly imagine. And even though it sounds like the most exciting, must-have kind of life, all she wants is what every other 14-year old girl wants: to fit in.

Thanks to her brilliant but mad physicist father who left when she was ten, her mother who prefers relocating to dealing with it all, and her increasingly frequent hallucinations, Sophie’s life has been anything but normal. That is, until she moves to Havencrest.

In this typical suburb, twenty miles north of Chicago, Sophie decides to get rid of her visions, once and for all. It’s here she meets a scientific boy genius who wants to cure her, a Kerouac-loving bookworm who wants to save her, and a giant shaman panda who guides her. As she becomes more and more like her father, Sophie travels back to where it all began – New York City. Armed with her best friend and trusty Walkman, Sophie tries to figure out whether her father was madly inventive – or simply mad. As she discovers more about her visions, string theory, and a father who could be the key to it all, she learns to let go – and love a life less ordinary.
